Xinhe Bao

Bao Xinhe, born in Yangzhong City, Jiangsu Province in August 1959, is a famous physical chemist and an academician of the CAS Member. He received his doctor’s degree from Fudan University in 1987, and served as a researcher and professor at the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Bao Xinhe has made significant achievements in the fields of surface chemistry and catalysis, particularly in the areas of catalytic selective oxidation, interface and nanocatalysis, as well as methane catalytic activation, with in-depth research and innovation.
His research team has developed various in-situ and dynamic catalytic research methods, such as in-situ high-pressure NMR and dynamic light emission electron microscopy PEEM, and discovered the confinement effect of carbon nanotubes. They proposed the concept of “synergistic binding” and successfully developed efficient catalysts. These research findings have had a significant impact in both international and domestic related fields.
